Elly Nederhoff is a horticultural researcher and consultant in greenhouse technology with extensive experience in research and consultancy in greenhouse horticulture: first 12 years in the Netherlands, and since 1995 in New Zealand. Her goal is to assist growers achieving the optimal production and quality from their greenhouses in a sustainable manner. Her special interest are energy efficiency, CO2 emisson and carbon footprints. 

Elly studied horticulture at the Agricultural University of Wageningen (the Netherlands) and gained BSc, MSc and PhD. Her PhD thesis was on CO2 enrichment in greenhouses. She became a research scientist at the Research Station for Glasshouse Crops in Naaldwijk (the Netherlands), and was part of a highly successful team, specialising in greenhouse climate control and energy management. 

In 1995, Elly immigrated to New Zealand and started working as a scientist at HortResearch (a crown research institute), where she embarked on hydroponics, plant nutrition and water treatments.

In 1998, Elly started her own consultancy business in greenhouse technology, now called CropHouse Ltd. Besides consulting to growers and companies, she conducted several multi-year research projects funded by the growers’ organisation and governmental research funds in New Zealand. Topics were for instance climate control, energy efficiency, root disease control, water treatment. She was invited speaker at growers' conferences and seminars, attended scientific conferences, wrote articles, was an expert witness in court cases, worked internationally.

Elly published over two hundred articles, numerous client reports and about 20 scientific papers.
